If you are a regular reader at JackBook.Com or studied Search Engine Optimization(SEO), you’ve come across the term “backlink” at least once. However if you are new, you must be wondering what a backlink is, and why they are important.
Simply put, backlinks are links that are directed towards your website. They are also knows as Inbound links (IBL’s). The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website. While backlinks give you a better ranking from Search Engines, another reason to achieve quality backlinks is to entice visitors to come to your website.
With that in mind, I have put together a list of ways you could get backlinks and increase your site visibility.
1. Article marketing
Write, write write! Yes, you read it right! Write quality posts, relevant to your niche and submit them to sites offering to host articles. In the author bio, you can write a small description about yourself along with a linkback to your blog. This approach has worked ever since the internet came into existence and I believe it will continue.
2. Build Contacts
Try to build a relationship with bloggers in your niche. Once in a way, when you feel you have written a great post (you feel you “hit the nail” on the post!) send them an email and let them know. Of course, not everyone you email to will linkback. However, its worth a try!
3. Provide valuable tips and replies in the niche forum your new site is based on and submit your forum signature with a backlink to your site. Also, use anchor text for the keyword and point it back to your site.
4. Blog carnivals
Participate in blog carnivals. There are various categories which you can choose from.
5. Look for links of love!
During the Christmas season, I saw that several bloggers offered to host links to other related blogs. Watchout for opportunities like these and grab them!
6. Submit your rss feed to blogging directories and blogging search engines. While some directories require you to post a link back to their directory, there are a few which doesn’t have such conditions.
7. You comment, I follow
In order to entice readers to comment, some blogs have a “You comment, I follow” policy. Voice your opinion on these blogs.
8. Guest posts
Since you are not reading this post in my blog, I obviously have succeeded in getting a backlink from this blog
I know that the headline said “one way”. However, it doesn’t hurt to be generous. If there is a blog that has linked to you and you feel it will benefit your readers, do the noble thing and share it with them!
