I know that there are a lot of active readers here on JackBook dot com that are also AdSense publishers at the same time. As a new blogger (like me), using AdSense to monetize your blog would be a little tricky. Sometime on this money making journey with AdSense you will get tempted (I know, I did  ) to boost your earnings and try to cheat the system. Some of the most common ways to get clicks are going to internet shops to personally clicking on the ads and asking your friends to click on them. This would be a very very huge mistake on your part.
The list below will contain facts of how Google keeps track and detect fraud clicks from you AdSense Ads.
1. IP Address
This is the most obvious way of tracking invalid clicks. If you do this, you are just plainly dumb. (sorry for the term) For the new ones, if you log-in to your google account or any account for a site that google owns, they save your IP address, it is your computer’s physical address on the world wide web.
Basically, google would know you clicked on your own ad.
Better take note of this, you could press ctrl + d to bookmark this post on your browser, for future reference.
2. Physical LocationGoogle is a multi-million or billion dollar company. This means that they could afford softwares of all kinds, one of this is the kind that tracks geographical location of any person using their web services. So, don’t try to click your ads using the computers on an internet shop, especially the ones that are near your place of residence. Trust me, google will know.
3. Click Through Rate (CTR)
Any sane person would know that having a CTR above 10% would be highly unlikely. Normal Click thru Rate stands at 0.5% - 10%. Any higher than that and you will get flagged and potentially banned from being a publisher ever again.
4. Cookies
Most of the ISPs around the world don’t use static IP Addresses for Internet connection. This would mean that by disconnecting and reconnecting again you would be able to acquire a new IP address. So, is this a way to cheat google? Nope! Don’t forget, Google sets cookies on your computer when you use any of their web services.

5. Pattern of the Clicks
This would be best describe with the phrase “Hit and Run“. A very noticeable thing on the eyes of Google is when you get an ad click and then than person leaves the site right after the click. Another noticeable pattern is when you constantly get a visitor that directly inputs your site or blogs URL on their web browser or from a bookmark and clicks on your ads.
6. Clicking Habit and History
Ask yourself this question. Have you clicked on other AdSense other than yours? Google can track your ad clicking history and if you just click on this one ad publisher all the time. That would raise some eyebrows, don’t you think?
8.Forgetting of the Other Google ServicesDon’t forget, google records all the IP addresses of their users. They can acquire and set cookies on your computer when you log in to any service that they offer, not just AdSense. Examples are blogger, Google Analytics, GMail or Google Mail and more.
10. Search Engine Ranking and Page Rank
If you have a website or blog that is not yet indexed by google and has no traffic whatsoever but yet still get clicks on your adsense ads.
11. Advertiser’s Conversion Rate
Lets assume that you got pass all of these. Google hasn’t caught you cheating (which I doubt) One last thing you need to pass is the advertiser’s conversion rate. This would be best explained with the question “Did the clicks bring value to the advertisers?” If not, then you are in trouble my man.
12. Webpage Design and Content
Placing the text “Please click a link below” or “donate us by clicking the ads” would get noticed by the Google bot. Again, trust me, google would know. These are indirect violation of the Google AdSense TOS that you agreed to when you signed up. Ad placement is also another thing.
Thats it, hope you learn and stay away from this activities  Good luck on the monetization of your blogs. ![]()

Thanks for that… it made me think twice before ask to my friends to click on my ads.
no prob
i agreed its “dumb” but i would say its kinda naturally for a newbie to want to click on their own ads.
most common excuse would be, “test clicks”
“Some of the most common ways to get clicks are going to internet shops to personally clicking on the ads ” this way is the most common way of some newbie publisher just like my other friends did it.

Thanks Jack for this kind of information. Every blogger should read it. This is not the case with newbies,I know that some of our fellow bloggers are using social services like Orkut to make money by inviting each other around and asking to click on ads?.
Nice, thanks for the guide.
Hi Jack
Useful Information! I clicked one link as “payment”

Of course that clicks are welcome too at Mentes Tortuosas
Thanks for your effort to save AdSense Jack

Hey man, thanks for sharing,
Been there and done, been banned after 3 years becoming a loyal adsense publisher. As we are a blind man for ‘whatever the king himself want’ I just get my conclusion, whatever you’ll do can lead us to banning ! As the TOS is a ‘flexible’ enough to punish without any rights for publisher to defend theirself !
The king is panic right now as YPN beat them !
You know what, your pic above (the cheating students) is not yours right ? That leads to adsense banning !
BB

[...] Most Common Mistakes of Banned AdSense Publishers [...]
u know rome? 2 months ago, someone who hates my blog click on my ads almost a 100 times!
and when i notice that i immediately seek the help of Adsense Team via e-mail and they replied immediately! I was so nervous that they will banned me for that. Luckily not!
(Ate ka ba o Kuya?, How old are you?)
U replied na before and i konw your from Cebu, right?
Kuya po ako
at tama, from Cebu
Buti na nga indi ka naban ng AdSense. d mo naman talga kasalanan un..
hm.. I am from Jakarta actually,
but ROme might be from Cebu, his a Filipino too
i got a cuestion about adsense ban, and the TOS…
My blog is about Jailbreak ipods (modificate the software etc) well…is that consider illegal? will the ban me when i ask for my first payment?
atleast a jailbreak can anulate the ipod’s warranty, but i dont know if this is somehow against the TOS of adsense, please someone give me some info about this.
i mean… i dont want to work hard on my blog to get banned when i get close to the money.
sorry for the bad english, i wrote fast and i didn’t realize how ugly i wrote
No, It’s OK, as long people can understand what your meant, it’s ok.
let’s see if other have their thought too.
I think Google won’t check it that far. I don’t think they can detect what is your blog content about.
As far as I know, they concern about fraud clicks, not on the content.
except of course it would be a different case if your content is clearly against their TOS, like hate, porn etc.
Just play save dude
Thanks for that Jack, the internet needs more ppl like you.
By the way, i wrote an email to you asking for help with the comment form under post, i don’t know if you already checked you email.
An another thing, there is anyway to talk with you? msn, that weird gmail messenger or something, i need some advices about adsense that i prefer to don’t talk by comments
A great post, I’m just getting started with blogging and every bit of info I read, esp when it comes in a nice handy list like that is great :).
I’m going to subscribe to this blog I think
you think?
don’t think! do it now. you won’t regret
thanks…from today i will stop clicking my own ads..;)
you did that??
if we banned…then the account is recoverable?
Hardly retrievable.
Just got banned by AdSense for making too much money on Feb 19, 2008. All websites that we had were generic business websites and everything was legal. Google Adsense’s email indicated a ‘bad business model’. Our translation is ‘We are paying you too much money’. Go figure. We had been up and running for over a year until our websites were getting noticed by Alexa.com and Google AdSense’s mysterious partners.
I got similar email some months ago,’potentially endanger our advertisers…”
Even when you play clean or natural search only….there are millions arguments they use….actually they break their own credo ‘do no evil’…
But Jack, you got your adsense account back, how’s the tricks dude ? Share on !
