On the last Google Pagerank Update, many great bloggers got slapped on their Pagerank. Many big sites Pageranks drop about 2 or 3 level. some even got 4 level decrease on their pagerank.
Now, we read many bloggers say that Google Pagerank is not important anymore. Google Pagerank is inaccurate. It is become useless.
They say that even the Google Pagerank Decrease, but their position on Google Search Engine Position (SERP) is not changed.
Is it really not changed? Or is it really all is just about SERP? Well..
Pagerank is the heart of Google Search, at least until today it is. Google Founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page said that what makes Google different with the other Search Engine is that Google has Pagerank Technology on their system.
With Pagerank, Google Search Engine sort their list of the result. With Pagerank, they put who should be on the first place, second and the last position.
And until now, Google is still being the biggest and the most trusted Search Engine for most people on the world.
So if they say Pagerank is not important anymore, I think no one can exactly know about it except the people on the GooglePlex it self.
And about position on Google Search Result, They may say that their position hasn’t changed. Well, it may true. Google doesn’t sort their result just by Pagerank calculation only anyway. There are so many factors so they can give the best result for their users.
But still, Pagerank is indicating how well Google trust on our site. So even Pagerank is not the only factor Google sort their Search Result, and their position is not changed, I believe it will soon or later.
Pagerank is not just about Search Engine Result Position anyway!
Currently, all sites have same purpose for being alive and online. Wonder what it is? Make Money!
If you say “I don’t”, You Will! I tell you that! You will try to monetize your site. Even if you didn’t or have never even thought about monetizing your site. You will someday!
And about monetizing a site. If you don’t have your own product or services to sell. then the best and easiest way to make money is by selling spots or posts on your site.
Selling Spots, there are many Advertising Network you can join so you can put their ads on your spot. Most of those Advertising Network allow only good sites with well reputation to join as their Publishers.
How do they know that you have a good reputation? Well.. what else? Google Pagerank is definitely one of the best factor they can use.
Now they say Google Pagerank is not important anymore? Oh please, with all of my respect to those people who have just been slapped by Google Pagerank Downgrade, I would say It is!
And please note that I didn’t say this because my pagerank is 5

Anyways many blogs like Engadget, mainstream media sites like Forbes have similar Pagerank. I think you write pretty well, with huge following them like engadget or Forbes, if I go by pagerank metric.
Holy Shit!, even YouTube is PR3. Anyways it a pretty useless site and it deserves PR3. But I am bit confused why millions of people visit it everyday.
well, people come to your site not just because of your pagerank rite?
people come to your site when they found something useful there. so youtube.
so far, their service and speed are the best on video niche, well i guess

So can you enlighten me why Pagerank is important? I am obviously missing something.
Even sites like Youtube (PR3), Forbes(PR5), engadget (PR5), are ranking very high in Google search Results. They should have disappeared by now. This means either Toolbar Pagerank is inaccurate or has nothing to do with rankings.
And when its inaccurate then why should I care?
And let me add its not Google who is going to give me or someone else reputation certificate. Its my readers, people whom I write for. I trust their word more.
Now have a greater Pagerank than Youtube, but I bet you don`t even have 10% of their traffic.
So my suggestion is Pagerank is good for people in Jr.High, but taking it as reputation certificate is laughable.
As I said on my post, It’s not only Pagerank the factor for Google sort their result. It also depends on the keyword rite? if you type or search youtube, i’m sure it’s on the first place.
and who said Youtube has PR3 anyway? It has PR8.
Ok, Youtube is Pagerank 8. It was Pagerank 3 few days ago. Sorry I don`t have Google Toolbar installed.
But you are still evading the question? Why pagerank is important? How Google Pagerank is the best factor to give reputation to a website.
With my due respect to you, Pagerank was a brilliant marketing tactic employed by Google to market its Toolbar. And the real Pagerank by which Google decides ranking is not shown to the public.

could you just please see there on payperpost, text-links-ads, etc.
I know it may not relevant for some people, but go there and see that the higher your pagerank is, then the higher they will pay for your service.
well, people have their own believe, but for me, google has their secret way to give their pagerank. one factor i know for sure is by counting how many valuable site links to our site.

So now you are saying other than brooming the underground text link sales market, Pagerank is useless. I agree with you on this mate. So in a way, if Google itself discontinue pagerank, text link market will have to find other way to sell links.
Smart advertisers have already realized that, only newbies do deals on the basis on Pagerank anymore.
And if you are unaware, Google backlink analyzer tool is broken, Google people have already admitted that. So if you really like to know your backlinks, you have to use Yahoo Site explorer. Again I fail to see importance of Pagerank here.
Anyways, I believe you are really happy with your new Pagerank and really like to cherish it. So I think there is no point in discussing this further.

If you are really interested on this, I might not be able to give you all the perfect answers, the point is i think each person have their own perception on google pagerank.
one for sure is that google doesn’t run their pagerank for nothing.

i think PR is VERY important but it’s not the major factor to decide which sites will display first. My blog was just created two weeks ago. Last week when i searched keyword thu quan viet nam (Vietnamese Library), i checked the first 30 pages but my blog nowhere to be seen… But now when i search that keyword again, although my PR still 0, my blog appear in the first page?!

Pagerank is necessary especially if you are after paid to review… but if you are after traffic.. PR is not necessary.. am I right?

After how much time i will get any page rank….I have heard that that any page get after approx 9 months u post that page.Is it true??
Actualy, it depends on 2 factors:
- how often Google recalculates PR (once per 3-4 month, as i know)
- how many backlinks and with what “rank” your page have on PR recalculation moment.
So, to get a high PR really takes approx 9 month. If your page is usefull.
